Taxi from Tan Son Nhat Airport
Taxis are one of the simplest ways to reach Ho Chi Minh City from Tan Son Nhat. The airport lies about 7 km northwest of District 1, so the ride is short — but traffic, especially in the morning and evening peak, can make it much longer.

Using a taxi at the airport
- Taxis serve all three terminals — follow the signs at the arrivals exits of Terminals 1, 2 and 3.
- Use a metered or app-booked car, and check that the meter is running before you leave.
- Ask for the terminal your flight uses when returning to the airport — the terminals are separate buildings linked by shuttle.
Alternatives to a taxi
- Public buses — lines 109 and 152 and shuttle bus 49 run from the bus station in front of Terminal 2 to the city centre.
- Ride-hailing apps — widely used in Ho Chi Minh City and bookable to any terminal pick-up point.
- Rent a car — see the car rental page for options beyond the city.
Traffic around the airport is heaviest at peak hours — allow extra time, particularly for morning departures.
