About Tan Son Nhat Airport

Tan Son Nhat dates from the early 1920s and is now Vietnam's busiest airport, handling 39.9 million passengers in 2024. Two runways — 3,828 m and 3,050 m — and three terminals serve the city, with the new Terminal 3 opened in April 2025 to lift total capacity to about 50 million passengers a year.

Always check the airport code on your ticket. Tan Son Nhat (SGN) and Long Thanh International Airport — under construction 40 km east of Ho Chi Minh City — are separate airports, and Terminals 1 and 3 are separate domestic buildings linked by a free shuttle. Getting the wrong one can cost you a missed flight.
